SDG 14 – Life below water

We forget that the water cycle and the life cycle are one.

Jacques Yves Cousteau

Indispensable for human life, the oceans occupy 70% of the earth’s surface. The health of our oceans is essential for the survival of species, and in this sense the Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water promotes sustainable use of the oceans, through a series of indicators that must be achieved within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

From June 27th to July 1st Lisbon hosts UN OCEAN CONFERENCE, an event entirely dedicated to the oceans and the search for policies, solutions and strategies that contribute to safeguarding and preserving the habitat of approximately 80% of life on the planet and a fundamental element of our biosphere.

The Teresa e Alexandre Soares dos Santos Library is aligned with the SDG’s, committed to promoting resources that focus on the various objectives outlined. In this sense, we present some ebooks from our collection related to SDG 14. A small display with books about this SDG can be visited at the Teresa e Alexandre Soares dos Santos Library, next to the informal reading area on the 1st floor.
